Oktoberfest Brisbane is back and 2022 will be bigger and better than ever before! After a two-year hiatus, Festival directors Kim and Boris Zoulek are once again delighted that the Beenleigh State High School Hospitality students are involved in delivering Australia’s largest traditional German Folk Festival.

When Boris and Kim first discovered the Beenleigh State High School Paddock to Plate in 2018, they recognised the unique opportunities that the agricultural hospitality program offered the school students. This inspired the notion of having the students play a key role in delivering the Festival with the intention to give students real world experience that would help them transition from school into the workforce.

Much like previous years, the partnership allows year 11 and 12 students to work alongside the Festival chefs and prepare over 350 delicious gourmet Bavarian platters that are served to VIP guests in Bayrisches Eck {Bavarian Corner} inside the main Oktoberfest Brisbane tent. This innovative program contributes towards the students’ Certificate II in Hospitality.

“We are passionate about bringing to life the rich cultural heritage and traditions at the heart of the famous Oktoberfest in Munich and we are excited to have the students play an important role in the celebration,” Ms Zoulek says.
