Prost! For the first time in the Festival’s history, Oktoberfest Brisbane will serve locally traditionally brewed Bier after the exclusive partnership with Burleigh Brewing Co. was announced on International Bier Day 2022. Burleigh Brewing is an independent, award-winning Queensland based craft brewery in Queensland.
Burleigh Brewing has been supplying Bier to the Festival since 2012 but this will be the first time they brew all the three traditional German Biers including Helles, Weissbier and Dunkel. The 10-year partnership celebrates everything that’s best about the Oktoberfest Brisbane experience – the culture, the warm spirit and of course, high quality Bier brewed the traditional German way!
When Burleigh Brewing first started in 2006, they were committed to creating world class craft beers and passionate about introducing a choice in beer that didn’t exist yet in Queensland! Since the beginning of the partnership with the Festival, Brewmaster Brennan Fielding has crafted the Oktoberfest Brisbane’s dark beer, which is brewed using the strict Bavarian Purity Law that stipulates that only four ingredients can be used: water, malt, hops and yeast. Brennan first learnt this brewing method during his job at a German brewery for Oktoberfest in Munich. This is what makes the beers at Burleigh Brewing, just as excellent as the German brewing masters.
Serving Bier brewed using traditional German methods has always been incredibly important to the team behind Oktoberfest Brisbane and it’s part of the commitment to offering a cultural experience like nowhere else in Australia. With Burleigh Brewing’s practice of the Bavarian Purity Law, there are a variety of unique but familiar flavours that emerge when you take that first sip of their deliciously crafted German Bier! It is truly a taste of Bavaria, right here in Brisbane!
